On My Radar

Hola amigos! (Look Mom, 14 years of Spanish classes paying off!)

There’s two on my radar posts up this week (the first was posted a little late – oops!), so double dose of pop culture and a few of my favorite things. Anyway, the three day weekend is finally here! I have no big plans unfortunately, but I’ll probably dig into a new book, try to catch some fireworks downtown and lay by the pool (but wish I was on a beach instead). Here’s a few things that caught my eye this week.

A little snap of a hike my dad and I did last weekend when he visited. How beautiful is this view?! Even with the clouds it’s amazing.

Here’s What “The Bachelorette” Contestants Look Like

OMG, you guys. This BuzzFeed article is so funny! I love Jordan, but he does kinda look like a fancy Veggie Tales asparagus in his suit, hah. Some of these are spot on though, Robbie and the Ken doll?! Vinny and Vinny?! Duh! Take a peek for some serious giggles.

UnReal

So my friend Bryce encouraged me to watch UnReal months ago, when the first season came out. If you haven’t heard of it yet, UnReal is a drama created by a former producer of the Bachelor that focuses on the lives of the producers who manipulate the contestants in order to create good TV. (Interesting article on that here.) I always thought the concept was a little silly and I’ve never been a big fan of Lifetime but I tried to watch the season premiere anyway. I didn’t like it. I thought it was over dramatized and kind of confusing (a show inside of a show?!) But this season it’s been everywhere! My twitter feed of Bachelorette live-tweeters are suddenly live-tweeting UnReal right after it, friends at work sent me articles about the show and encouraged me to watch it. So I tried it again…and I’m hooked. Seriously it’s addicting. I’m still on season one (all the episodes are online), but I’m totally rooting for Rachel and Jeremy (so cute!) Basically, if you’re a fan of the Bachelorette, you need to check this out.

Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

I’ve always been a fan of strawberry shortcake, I can remember making them at home with my mom using just little pastry cakes, fresh strawberries and whipped cream. What a sweet summer-y treat! I found a recipe on Lauren Conrad’s site that I’m dying to try and figured I’d share. It looks a bit more complicated than my typical boxed brownies recipe, but I’m up for the challenge. Check it out here.

So tell me, what’s been on your radar this week?
